February 10, 2006
Toshiba announced on February 9 that it again plans to increase its investment in its semiconductor business during the current fiscal year 2005, which runs through March 2006. The company said it will raise investment in its NAND flash memory chip facility in Mie Prefecture, Japan, to 289 billion Yen. Through this additional investment, production capacity at the plant, which is operated in cooperation with US SanDisk, is expected to grow to 70,000 units of 300mm wafers per month by March 2007, up from the previously set target of 48,750 units by that date.
